After exploring the wealth of Gray’s marginalia at the archive, I formed a text work lifting from and responding to Gray himself.&#38;nbsp;

Made from 20 handmade ceramic tiles, repurposed furniture and upcycled archival drawers, the work was exhibited at Nicoll’s gallery.

	Sculptural Works
	

	Holly Allan is a Glasgow-based writer and visual artist whose interdisciplinary practice weaves together sculpture, ceramics, fabric, wood, moving image, and text. 
Grounded in heritage craft and the aesthetics of labour, her work interrogates the disappearance of ornamentation and the secularisation of sacred aesthetics in contemporary culture. Through faux ritualistic objects, warped iconography, and material experimentation, Allan explores the glitchy thresholds between the spiritual, physical, and digital—spaces where devotion meets data, and ornament becomes illusion. Her practice reflects on the tension between display and concealment, beauty and functionality, examining how the decline of ornamentation mirrors broader cultural shifts toward surveillance, consumption, and individualism. 
Drawing from religious imagery, historical craftsmanship, and discarded digital materials, her sculptures often appear extracted from a parallel world, merging the devotional with the disposable.

	My design work combines a fine-art sensibility with strong technical proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and moving-image tools. I create clean, thoughtful visuals—ranging from album artwork and publication layouts to social media graphics and promotional materials. 
Influenced by sculpture and material studies, my approach emphasises texture, balance, and visual rhythm. I aim to build designs that feel intentional, resonant, and attuned to a project’s tone, whether minimalist, ornate, experimental, or brand-driven.

	Video Work
	

	My video practice spans experimental moving-image works and commissioned music videos. Drawing from my background in film studies and contemporary art, I create visually rich, concept-driven pieces which often incorporate text, layered imagery, and slow motion camera work.

I have experience both directing, editing and producing music videos developed in close collaboration with the artists. Across all video work, my focus is on mood, symbolism, and crafting images that linger.

	Set Design
	

	My set design work grows from a background in sculpture, model-making, and material-driven experimentation. Trained in Fine Art at The Glasgow School of Art and further specialising in creative metalwork and model-making at City of Glasgow College, I approach sets as sculptural environments—spaces where narrative, texture, and atmosphere converge. My practice blends traditional craftsmanship with digital tools, drawing on skills in welding, metal forming, prop construction, 3D design, and Adobe Creative Suite.

I have contributed to a range of film, TV, and commercial projects, working with LS Productions, MTP, and independent filmmakers across Scotland.
